Lady Fubara Urges Inclusive Policies to Support All Children in Rivers State
An official of the Federal Fire Service in Akwa Ibom State, Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Okon, don appeal to the state government under Governor Umo Eno to support the service with modern firefighting equipment and logistics to improve emergency response.
According to am, since the fire service centre start operation in 2017, dem never receive any meaningful support from the state government, even though dem dey respond to fire incidents across different parts of the state, including remote areas.
Okon explain say firefighting work need proper planning, quick response, and adequate tools, as even 10 minutes delay fit cause serious destruction when fire outbreak happen.
He also highlight major challenges wey affect their operations, including bad roads, heavy traffic jams, and poor cooperation from some road users, especially commercial drivers wey dey block roads during emergencies.
He call on the state government to include the federal fire service in its emergency management planning so that coordination go improve during disasters.
The fire officer further advise residents, companies, traders, motorists, and households to take fire safety serious by acquiring fire extinguishers and adopting preventive habits.He stress say people must stop the mindset of saying fire no go touch them, because fire incidents fit happen unexpectedly.
He also encourage citizens to always switch off electrical appliances and sockets when dem no dey at home to reduce risk of electrical fire outbreaks.
Overall, the appeal focuses on strengthening preparedness, improving response time, and building stronger collaboration between government and emergency agencies to reduce fire-related losses in Akwa Ibom State.
