Rivers VIO and AUPCTRE discuss collaboration and staff welfare in Rivers State
Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Lady Valerie Fubara, don call for stronger inclusive policies to improve the welfare of children across the state, no matter their gender or physical condition.
She make this call during the 2026 International Children’s Day celebration wey happen for Sharks Stadium in Port Harcourt, where the theme na “Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child.” Represented by the Head of Service, Dr.Inyingi Brown, Lady Fubara talk say the government recognise say investing in children na key to building a safer and more prosperous future.She stress say every child, including those with disabilities, deserve equal care, support, education, and opportunities.According to her, society must stop discrimination and instead show empathy, encouragement, and protection to vulnerable children.
She also advise parents to teach their children compassion, especially towards those living with disabilities, and urged all stakeholders—government agencies, educators, religious bodies, and development partners—to ensure say no child is left behind in access to education, healthcare, and general wellbeing.
Lady Fubara further commend the Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation for their continuous efforts in promoting child development and inclusion.
In her own remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs Lauretta Davies Dimkpa, describe the theme as timely and important, saying it aligns with the state government’s “Leave No One Behind” policy.
She also highlight some government actions, including providing office space for the South-South zonal office of the National Commission for Persons With Disabilities, to strengthen support systems for people with disabilities.
The event itself include march past from school children, voluntary groups, and paramilitary organisations, all showing commitment to child welfare and inclusion in the state.
