KWSC reports partial water supply disruption in Karachi due to K-Electric cable fault

Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has confirmed a significant water shortfall in the city following a technical fault in K-Electric's main cable supplying North East Karachi Pumping Station.

Early on Sunday at 3:27am, the power supply to the NEK pumping station was suddenly suspended, affecting operations at K-II Pumping Station and partially disrupting the city's water supply.K-Electric technical team responded promptly and assessed the situation.KWSC managed emergency arrangements by backfeeding the K-II pumping station through K-III feeder, partially restoring power at 5:50am.Despite these efforts, pumping capacity remains limited due to reduced electrical supply.

The spokesperson stressed that if the cable fault is not permanently repaired, further shortages may affect water distribution schedules across different areas of Karachi.

KWSC is closely monitoring the situation and employing all available resources to restore full water supply, urging K-Electric to repair the fault urgently to prevent inconvenience to residents.

The temporary measures will continue until normal power supply is fully restored, highlighting the city’s dependency on uninterrupted electricity for essential services like water distribution.
