Mamata Banerjee seen in heated exchange with Kolkata hospital officials during treatment of Abhishek Banerjee
Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has stated that the INDIA bloc, a coalition of opposition parties, is likely to hold a meeting in the first week of June to plan a joint political strategy.
Speaking during a Facebook Live session, she emphasised that the opposition alliance remains committed to a sustained and united political struggle against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).Banerjee asserted that the coalition is prepared for a long battle and will continue its efforts without giving up.
During her address, Banerjee also launched strong allegations against the electoral process in West Bengal, claiming large-scale manipulation and irregularities.
She alleged that in around 150 assembly constituencies, the Trinamool Congress’s (TMC) expected mandate had been reversed, turning winning seats into losses. She further claimed that if the electoral process had been fair, her party could have secured between 220 and 230 seats. She raised concerns over voter roll deletions and restoration, suggesting possible tampering at multiple stages. In response, BJP leaders rejected her claims, accusing her of refusing to accept electoral outcomes and spreading conspiracy theories.
They argued that elections under her party’s earlier victories were not questioned, and criticised her statements as undermining constitutional processes.
Banerjee also alleged that TMC workers and representatives were facing intimidation following the elections and claimed administrative pressure on party-run institutions. She further said that legal options would be explored in constituencies where doubts persist over electoral conduct.
Despite political setbacks, she maintained that the party’s organisational strength remains intact and vowed that the TMC would bounce back strongly in future political contests.
