NDMA Alerts Rising Flood Risks Amid Chenab River Flooding

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued warnings about escalating flood risks across Pakistan due to persistent monsoon rains, with the Chenab River experiencing medium-level flooding at key locations.

According to NDMA's National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC), medium flood levels were recorded at Khanki, Qadirabad, and Chiniot Bridge on the Chenab, while Palkhu Nala at Wazirabad also saw similar conditions.Low-level flooding persists along the Indus, Ravi, and Kabul Rivers.The authority predicts further water level rises in the coming 24 hours, with potential for medium flood levels at Trimmu Barrage.NDMA has also warned of flash floods in hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan, seasonal streams in KP, and northern Balochistan.Urban areas like Lahore, Faisalabad, and Multan face heightened urban flooding risks.The public is advised to avoid travel to flood-affected zones, check weather forecasts, and stay updated via the Pak NDMA app.Emergency teams are on standby to address road closures and landslides in mountainous regions during monsoons.
