Priyanka Chaturvedi urges Centre to remove Union Education Minister, says students deserve credit for demanding accountability

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi has called on the Central government to remove Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, arguing that such a decision would demonstrate accountability in the wake of the controversy surrounding the NEET-UG paper leak case.

In a post on X, Chaturvedi said the government had replaced ministers in the past and questioned why it was hesitating to do so now if accountability was required.According to her, easing the minister out of office would be the appropriate course of action rather than delaying a decision.Chaturvedi also stressed that the students who protested and demanded accountability should receive recognition for their efforts. She said the students had fought not only for their own interests but also for the future of the country's education system.

Responding to concerns that political parties might seek credit for any action taken, she remarked that the students alone deserved such credit because they had consistently raised their voices on the issue.

She further argued that allowing questions over political ownership or credit to delay accountability would only increase public dissatisfaction and undermine confidence in the government's response.

Her remarks come at a time when activist Sonam Wangchuk is continuing a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in support of the CJP's protest seeking the resignation of the Union Education Minister over the handling of the NEET-UG paper leak issue.

The controversy has kept the focus on transparency, responsibility and reforms in the examination system, with opposition leaders continuing to demand stronger action from the Centre.
