APSRTC bus collision with stationary lorry in Gajuwaka leaves three dead and seven injured
On Sunday afternoon, a tragic accident occurred in Chikkaballapur district of Karnataka, resulting in the death of six people and injuring four others.
The incident involved a speeding Mahindra Thar that struck an autorickshaw carrying eight agricultural workers and its driver on National Highway-44, while travelling from Peresandra towards Bagepalli.The force of the collision pushed the autorickshaw into a container lorry parked by the roadside, completely crushing it.Rescue teams had to use specialised equipment to extricate the victims trapped inside.Among the deceased were the autorickshaw driver, B K Anjinappa (35), and five passengers, including N Umadevi (55) and B R Vijaya (40).One of the injured, B S Arunamma (48), later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, raising the death toll to six.
The injured passengers, aged between 40 to 50 years, are receiving treatment at Bagepalli Taluk Government Hospital and are reported to be in critical condition.Police confirmed that the Thar driver, whose identity is yet unknown, also sustained injuries and is under hospital care.
Authorities have registered a case at Bagepalli Police Station and are reviewing CCTV footage and witness statements as part of the ongoing investigation.Traffic on the highway was temporarily disrupted but later restored after clearance of the damaged vehicles.Preliminary reports suggest that overspeeding was a major factor in this fatal accident.
