An 18-year-old Sri Lankan Tamil refugee named Yansi lost her life in a fatal road rage incident in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, during the early hours of May 30.According to police, the incident stemmed from a verbal altercation that began inside a private bar in the Koyambedu area.

Yansi and her 17-year-old friend had gone to the venue with friends and were dancing when an argument broke out between their group and a group of young men.The disagreement escalated into a scuffle before bar bouncers intervened and separated the parties.A second argument reportedly took place outside the establishment, after which security staff again dispersed both groups.Later, Yansi and her friend left the area on a two-wheeler and travelled towards Thirumangalam.Police said that during the journey, Yansi's friend allegedly threw stones at the car occupied by the men involved in the earlier dispute.Investigators believe this act provoked the occupants of the car, who then chased the two-wheeler and deliberately rammed it.The collision proved fatal for Yansi, who died at the scene.Her friend suffered serious injuries and was admitted to the Kilpauk Government Hospital for treatment.Authorities have registered a criminal case against six individuals in connection with the incident.Three suspects — Balaguru (21), Joshua (19), and Kishorekumar (19) — have been arrested, and the vehicle used in the attack has been seized.Police have formed a special team to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects who are currently absconding.The investigation is ongoing as officers work to establish the full sequence of events and determine the responsibilities of all those involved.
