The last rites of former model and actor Twisha Sharma were conducted on Sunday evening at Bhadbhada Ghat in Bhopal after a second postmortem examination was carried out by a four-member medical team from AIIMS Delhi.Twisha, aged 32, was found dead on May 12 at her matrimonial home in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal.Her family has alleged that she was subjected to harassment over dowry demands by her husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh.

Twisha’s family approached the Madhya Pradesh High Court seeking a second postmortem, claiming that the initial investigation and medical report contained irregularities.Acting on the court’s directions, the second examination was conducted under security arrangements at AIIMS Bhopal.Before the cremation, Twisha’s father Navnidhi Sharma expressed hope that the fresh medical examination would provide fair and unbiased findings.Family members stated that Twisha’s husband and mother-in-law were not permitted to attend the cremation ceremony.Meanwhile, Samarth Singh, who had reportedly been absconding, was arrested in Jabalpur on Friday.A local court in Bhopal later sent him to seven days of police custody for interrogation till May 29.

Twisha’s relatives continued to demand accountability from the accused family and alleged that they were responsible for the circumstances leading to her death.

The matter has also drawn national attention, with the Supreme Court registering a suo motu case regarding alleged institutional bias and procedural discrepancies linked to the investigation.A bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant is expected to hear the matter on Monday.
